Road Rides with Gap Cycling ClubSunday morning rides depart 6:00am in Summer and 6:30am in Winter. Departing from the McDonald’s car park in The Gap Village Shopping Centre. As rides vary every week please check the calendar for planned destination. It is about 50 - 85km and averages between 25 and 32 km/hr. Social mixed riders depart the same time / location with destination determined by ability and time by participants. This ride travels at the speed of the slowest rider, maximum distance is 50km. Saturday offers two choices: First choice departs 5:30am in summer and 6:00am in winter. This is called the “Slog Fest”, hard and fast, ranging up to 100km. Depending on the planned ride may involve a number of hill (mountain) climbs. Note destination is decided in the week prior via e-mail. Ride starts from the Mobil Service Station, on the corner of Waterworks Rd and Settlement Rd. Second choice departs 6am in Summer and 6.30am in Winter. Starting point outside McDonald’s car park in The Gap Shopping Centre, offers a Social Ride up to 50km, catering for all levels. Both rides finish back at The Gap Shopping Centre at the Coffee Club for social chat. Week days depending on individual training requirements or upcoming club challenges, members may target hill training or relative flat rides. This is another quick ride, same river city loop offering a number of short cuts for those struggling to keep up. The ride finishes in nearby Little Cribb St for coffee, before most head off to work. Ride 2 meets at bottom of Mt Coot-tha and will involve a number of repeat climbs up Mt Coot-tha. Thursday ride 1 starts at 5:30 all year round from the corner of Walsh St and Railway Tce, Milton. This is a medium pace ride finishing on the Goodwill Bridge for coffee, before riders go their separate ways. Beginners who have just purchased a bike, or perhaps unfamiliar with destinations or area, we have collaborated with Brisbane City Councils Active Parks Initiative to enable you the opportunity to cycle. These assisted rides give you different locations to cycle whilst enjoying a slower pace and getting to know your ability.
